Would it be too difficult to learn French?

I'm 14 right now and I'm taking Spanish in school. Next year as a freshman in high school, I'm going to be taking Spanish 2. I have over 100% in my Spanish class, so I'm good at learning new languages. However, I really want to move to France to work when I get older, and I would like to take French in high school. Would my previous education in Spanish make it difficult to learn French, or would it not matter? Also, is French a difficult language to learn and how much French would I need to know to live in France?

Please only answer if you are learning a new language or have experience in learning French or you live in France. Thank you:)

    Not at all!

French can be rather easy. Sentence formation is similar to English. English vocabulary is roughly 25% French!!! A lot of the grammar you see in Spanish has an equivalent in French, so that will help you too, though there are some noticeable (non major) differences.

Spelling words and reading words might be tricky in the beginning, as will be forming plurals, but eventually you'll get the hang of it. It's a little bit more consistent than English. The pronunciation is a bit tricky, but nothing you can't overcome with a little bit of practice.

Nope, French is easy. I take French now in the AP level. Your previous education in Spanish would actually help you. This is due to French and Spanish both coming from the same origin of language (Latin I believe). The numbers in French are similar to Spanish. There are also a lot of Spanish words that are similar to French ones with the same definition.

    Hi, Cami

Spanish will help you learn French, even though genders may confuse you a little bit, as they are not the same for the same words in both languages.

French is not more difficult than Spanish, and your motivation values more than anything else, to go the distance.

To get a taste of the language, and stay in a daily habit of practice, go to this youtube channel:

You will need to be able to have conversation at intermediate level, in order to properly function in France.

    Hope this helps!

I tried french in highschool and it was miserable. So i switched to spanish and aced it all three years i took it. But i had previous experience with spanish, i didnt with french besides the songs i sang with my voice teacher. Maybe thats why it was so hard for me to grasp it. If you have an interest in it then you might be ok

French is a rather easy language to learn, but some of the pronunciations can be hard. Don't listen to that "Bendik" guy who asked earlier, no is "Non"

Knowing Spanish will help with learning French. There are many similarities and yet they are so very different.
