Can you solve this? 0+50*1-60-60*0+10?
My friend and I are arguing about this equation. He says the answer is 10 and my answer is 0. Can you prove one of us wrong?

0 + (50 x 1) - 60 - (60 x 0) + 10
Do the multiplications first. 50 x 1 = 50. 60 x 0 = 0
0 + 50 - 60 - 0 + 10
Then do the adding & subtracting. The result is ZERO.
Your friend is not using the correct process of doing the multiplication first before doing the adding and subtracting. This is what your friend is doing: He's working from left to right and doing the operations as they are encountered.
0 + 50 * 1 - 60 - 60 * 0 + 10.
0 + 50 = 50
50 * 1 = 50
50 - 60 = -10
- 10 - 60 = -70
- 70 * 0 = 0
0 + 10 = +10

Using PEMDAS, I find the following answer
0+(50*1)-60-(60*0)+10
0+50-60-0+10
50-60+10
0
Hope that helps.

0 + 50 * 1 - 60 - 60 * 0 + 10
..Doing multiplication first...
0 + 50 - 60 - 0 + 10
...then it is simple from here...
50 - 60 + 10
0
Congrats on being right!

That guy obviously didn't go to Yale because he got an elementary math problem wrong...
You have to pay attention to the order of operations
0+(50x1)-60-(60x0)+10
0+50-60-0+10
50-60+10
-10+10

You were right. Sorry friend!

0+50=50*1=50-60=-10-60=-70*0=0+10=10 That is doing the calculations as they are written
But if you group the multiplications and do them first
0+(50*1)-60-(60*0)+10 gives you 0+50-60-0+10 = 0

The correct answer is "-20".
Use BODMAS formula.
0+50*1-60-60*0+10
=0+(50x1)-60-(60x0)+10 ...(Use BODMAS formula 1st time..here M means multiplication)
=0+50-60-0+10
=(0+50)-60-(0+10) ...(Use BODMAS formula 2nd time..here A means addition)
=50-60-10
=-20
