You can't possibly be serious! A person must be unable to work and earn at least $1040 a month for AT LEAST A YEAR due to a severe disability in order to receive SSI or social security disability benefits. If you want to paid for time off from work when you are sick then get yourself a job with a company which will do that.

I had Shingles for the first time a few weeks ago. I am normally in good health and haven't had any other health challenges before, so it came as a surprise.
Shingles is probably the most painful thing I have ever encountered. I went to the doctor, and he gave me some prescription drugs to take that was suposed to help, but didn't.
My wife found the Fast Shingles Cure ebook online and bought it for me, I am very lucky to have such a wonderful woman in my life. We followed the book, did what it said, and it delivered what it promised. Finally my Shingles rash is over... I feel truly blessed and thankful.

you could but it would take longer than 5 days to receive any form of payment from SSD. There is a thing called short term disability that pays quicker but its usually alot less.
that being said, i believe the woman does not have a case to discriminate against you here. Anyone who has ever had chickenpox will have that virus dormant in their system until the day they die. Shingles is simple an outbreak that happens when said virus becomes "active" due to many different factors but most often times stress induced. Someone who has never had shingles can catch the virus from you if there are open sores (not dried out or scabbed over) but they will not catch shingles, they will catch chickenpox. For her to say that she cannot be exposed to chickenpox would mean that she cannot work around the public. Specifically in a job where young children are present. Seeing as how you are a cashier, i would say young children come through the store with their parents quite often and chances are they have touched many of the products that she scans. In other words, you are being discriminated against for something that she may be exposed to on a daily basis. You should express this to your employer. maybe offer to wear latex gloves during the days when you have an outbreak to avoid contamination. hope this helps, good luck
