How many of you out there just say "I don't know" instead of "I know that x is true"?
So many people seem to be completely dead set in their believing that there is no possibility of their being a god at all, and at the other end of it you have all the people who are dead set in their faith in christianity, islam, judaism, buddhism, hinduism, etc. I honestly don't have enough information to decide one way or the other what I believe, and I wonder how many people feel the same

I can't be absolutely sure that Superman doesn't exist, but I'm not going to pretend that his existence is likely. I can't be 100% sure that the sun will rise tomorrow, but I going to claim that I know it will still exist based on the preponderance of evidence. You know, the same thing we humans use to "know" everything, because it's a given that we can't know anything absolutely, therefore it's silly to even pretend that we should be able to.
So, based on the evidence for gods (zero) and the logical counter evidence against "loving Gods" (a plethora), I think it's fair for me to claim that I know that all ancient myth gods are clearly the invention of man. As for deist gods they are 100% speculation, so the chance of guessing that idea right without the slightest basis, is extremely remote. Considering a person could blindly speculate on anything within the human imagination wouldn't make the odds very good. I wouldn't say that I know a deist God doesn't exist because I (nor anyone else) haven't the slightest idea what such a thing. You can't just make up an idea based on 100% speculation (a wild guess) and then claim to know what it is when you have absolutely no reference point from reality. It's utter nonsense. Even the tiniest basis would be something to go on, but no one have anything to go on, so it's ridiculous and in the same realm as Santa. Actually Santa is based off a real human which we know can and does exist, so he is more believable than an God thingy.

I say "I don't know", and have said this for about 40 years.
It's only since starting to practice Buddhism that I don't mind that I don't know. Seems that the longer I practice Buddhism the less it matters whether I know or don't know.
As soon as we say, "I know" we close off receptivity to any truth that might vary from what we think "we know".
So, instead of finding comfort in belief or "knowing", I find comfort in being.

im an atheist and i believe what the laws of physics tell me. of course theres always the god trump card that he exists and performs miracles but just never shows himself anymore so you can tech disprroove it which is plausible but if u believe this then u may as well believe than there is a llama drinking tea on the dark side of the moon just bc we cant disprove it. unless u have access to a sateite i guess.
but if i was offered tangible profe i would beieve it

I usually don't use the words "know" or "knowledge" at all, rather I speak in terms of evidence.

I know there is no supporting evidence for the existence of any Deities. I am as sure there is no God, as you are sure there is no tooth fairy.

I don't know.
Source(s): And when people are like "WELL IF GOD DIDN'T CREATE THE UNIVERSE THEN WHAT DID?" I respond with "I don't know; I wasn't there" and I'd like to add that I don't particularly care.
