Can any of you idiots read? Shansi didn't ask for the amount of vowels/consonants present in the alphabet, Shansi asked for the amount of vowels/consonants in everyday speech.

To the best of my knowledge, it's 16 vowels. That's at least what I learned in Linguistics, though I could be wrong.

There are 5-6 vowels and 20-21 consonants. (The variation is due to 'Y' being both a vowel and a consonant depending on the context)
