How do you protect your kids online? (UK)?
I'm researching whether current methods for protecting children online are working and how we might improve them.
I'm looking for UK-based parents/carers of children aged 9-15 to help with online child protection survey: http://goo.gl/BK8ri
Thanks so much for any help you can give!

You have to be very PC literate and don't let them know we are monitoring them. Stealth is the key. Kids these days have been brought up with PC's since they were 4 years old. They know how to get around any software that you might put on their PC. Not only that, but they now have smart phones that most of us would not know how to navigate. Our daughter put spy software on the PC. Obtained my password and then logged into her own PC to alter the Mcafee parental controls. Only that I came to restore my PC, did I notice in the restore it had the installation of a spy program. The only way that I can see, is for ISP's themselves to offer protection by offering lists of sites that have been visited from an IP address. But then there is nothing stopping our daughter from visiting a WII-fi area and talking to a 50 yr old man pretending to be a teenager on her smart phone.

The UK seems to be failing at a lot of things these days. Sorry to hear about your daughter. The bully's parents need to send her away.
