How do I get my son off of needing a bottle to go to sleep, he won't take a pacifier...?
My 6, almost 7 month old won't fall asleep unless he is drinking a bottle. He won't take a pacifier, hasn't since he was born. How can I ween him off of needing a bottle to sleep? Thanks.
My concern with him eating to fall asleep is because I was told it causes tooth decay. Also, I wouldn't let him cry himself to sleep.

It will only cause tooth decay and ear problems if he is left to lay down flat on his back and feed himself his bottle.
If you cradle your baby, and feed him like you're supposed to, then put him into his crib there won't be any problem.

I would make sure he is tired out but relaxed before putting him to sleep, A nice relaxing bath and soothing rub. Soften the lighting so that it is not glaring and soft music will put that little charmer in the right mood to fall asleep.
If you have a rocking chair hold him till he's dozing off and then place him back in the crib...but don't rush out of the room right away in case he wakes up briefly. Move the chair closer, bring a book so that he is comforted by your presence and he will drift back to sleep. It's all about reassuring him that he is safe..that's what the bottle was a safe feeling.

Don't make him cry to sleep. How awful! They need you and crying lets him tell you he needs something. Try giving him a bottle before bed and then rock him to sleep. And then from there gradually try and get him to fall asleep in his crib, but if you don't mind rocking him to sleep then just do that. Why don't you want him to fall asleep during a feeding? As long as you take it out of his mouth when he falls asleep so it doesn't pool on his mouth causing bad teeth there's no harm. My baby falls asleep at the breast and then I lay her down.

Ok. Don't worry abourt it yet. When your baby gets to be a year old you can start the process. And it may entail your putting up with a couple of nights of the baby crying himself to sleep.
Give him slack now. He is, after all, just a baby.
