If Obama and the Dem's really want fair taxation, why dont they support a Flat Tax?

Obama thinks he does ... with 10% of us paying 90% of all taxes... and 50% paying nothing.

I think the question is... " did Obama pass his math classes in school ? "

Firstly you need to get your story straight.

Obama is not complaining about Warren Buffet.

Buffet supports Obama.

Buffet has suggested that high-earners should pay a higher tax rate.

Buffet pointed out that he pays less than his own secretary.

Democrats have opposed flat tax proposals.

Herman Cain’s 999 flat tax plan did, upon analysis, favor the rich.

Democrats will never favor a plan that favors the rich.

I can’t speak for republicans who were very reluctant to increase

the high-bracket tax rate and the Capital Gains tax rate.

But I suspect that they would like a flat tax plan the favors the rich.

You just saying it is, doesn't make this true. Why is a flat tax any fairer than a progressive one?

All taxes are unfair. All taxes change behavior. You've just come out with a tax system that would waste money chasing petty taxpayers. First rule of taxation is John Dillinger's response when asked why he robbed banks, "it's where the money is."

Because he does not want that. Nothing in this administration even hints at true fairness. They don't really even hid that fact.

He got elected because many people want someone to care for them. They don't want fairness. They want a daddy.

I agree with you. I would be happy to give up my child tax credit if everyone paid the same percentage. I want those in the lowest income brackets and the highest to be paying into the system without ways to get around the rules.

Most rich people would object to such a plan because they currently pay less on their investment income than they would pay under a flat-tax scheme that covered all income.

Most middle class people would object to a flat tax that was on earned income only because that means the rich wouldn't pay any taxes on their investment income. Also, it would be very easy for the upper middle class and rich to get around the income tax by paying themselves dividends (which wouldn't be taxed) instead of income.

A flat tax is a regressive tax. An example would be social security tax. Not only is it the same rate for everybody, but there is a cap on it.

They don't want a fair tax system. They believe the rich stoled the money they have and therefore the government has every right to take all their money from them Plus they also believe the government knows how spend your money better than you do

Control, the tax system gives politicians lots of control about voting loopholes for supporters.

Lots of people, from both parties, don't support it because there are serious arguments to be made against it. It's ridiculous to try and make something that has been debated for years all about Obama.

Democrats who designed the PRESENT tax system said its PURPOSE is to balk upward mobility and build impenetrable separation between the wealthy ruling class and an impoverished general population by driving the middle class into poverty.
