Help my apartment is killing me?
Well not literally. I've lived here a month and they r older and didn't get a deep clean before I moved in, the vents r so dirty. I developed a cough three weeks ago and it won't get better, it gets worse when I'm home and my eyes always water. I requested they clean them out but they haven't. I tried canister vacuuming them out but it seems to be getting worse not better. The manager lives next door and they smoke cigs inside. Please give me advice I can no longer sleep through the night. Any and all advice is much appreciated

If you can afford it have your apartment checked for toxic mold. It can cause allergy type symptoms. A friend of mine lived in a house with mold for a year and had to use sinus spray daily to be able to breathe properly.
If mold is found, the property owner will need to get it cleaned up or allow you to move, I believe they may even need to pay your moving expense.

For the cough I'd add some thyme ( like a teaspoon ) to a cup of boiling water and some sugar. Have a cup a day and see if it works for you.
Source(s): Used dry thyme personally. - 8 years ago
You could call some type of official to complain. Honestly, you should try to find a new place. Easier said than done, but still. It's unsanitary and unhealthy.
