Why do Christians say "God helps those who help themselves" when...?
...you ask them why god doesn't answer people's prayers? Do they know that "God helps those who help themselves" is no where in the bible and came from a fable in ancient Greece?
Panait: but if your friend helps with money and/or you work for it, then why say god did anything? Thank your employer and your friend.

It says it in many forms. Not the prayers thing but that people are rewarded according to their industry.
Simply cause and effect.

Yes I know. But in a way it applies to christians too. I mean God asks the man to show his good will in the resolution of his problem in the sense that he must work for the resolution of the problem rather than expect everything to fall from the sky. Let me tell you two different situations that could help you understand:
you need a sum of money for something, and although you work to raise it you are unable to do so in the time limit. So a friend gives you the money you need to complete the sum. That is a analogy for the saying.
On the other hand you could sit on your but and just complain you do not have the money and ask people to help you with the money. This is the analogy of people that pray to God for something, but they are unwilling to do any effort for it.
Hope you understand.

They definitely do not come from the Bible. And would explain why so many false Christians use it. They are just stupid, unbiblical words of "wisdom" that lead no one anywhere. The only way to God is directly by HIS words!! Not words of famous people.

Hello,
You are correct, its not Biblical. That came from the so called Protestant work ethic during the Industrial Revolution .

I know lots of Christians but have never heard any of them use that saying.

that's because there is no God to help you. you can pray all you want for God to clean yourself or you can clean it yourself.
