How or when do I change my name for performing?

I want to be an actress, particularly on stage, and next year I'm going to a new school for a performing arts BTEC course

but I really don't like my name, and I want to change my name as like a 'stage name'

when and how would I establish it? Uni? After Uni with my agent? College already? Or do I legally change it?

I know exactly what I want it to be already

Establish your name immediately if you plan on following this acting career. If it doesn't work or otherwise, you will come up with a name in due time.

You have two choices. You can adopt a stage name and use it for performance programmes, interview with magazines etc, and any 'public' appearance or performance. You do not need to do anything legal to do that. If you want your stage name to become you full time name, and appear on your bank cards, drivers licence etc, then you will have to change it legally. Most solicitors will do it for you, and it's not expensive.

However, you will need to be over 18 to do that, or have your parents permission.

At your new school try to get everyone to call you your stage name tell them it's like a childhood nickname and it is wierd if your called anything else

    Good luck
