When should I have my biometrics done?

I live in the US and am planning to marry my british fiance in May. I can't apply for my spousal visa till then so when should I have my biometrics done? It's my understanding that they will send me an appointment letter of some sort but how will they know to do this? Will they do this when Ive applied for my visa? Thanks.

You can apply for the fiancée visa up to three months prior to your proposed travel date. Once you have filled the application form online and you have paid the visa fee by credit card you will be able to make an appointment to have your biometrics done at the nearest Application Support Center of the U.S. Citizen and Immigration Service which provides this service on behalf of the UK Border Agency. You will then need to send your application package to the UK Border Agency at the Consulate General in New York. They decide about all visa applications made in the Americans.

you need a fiancee visa ,..not a spousal visa

    for a fiancee visa

    http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1flow

US Citizen can apply for a special visa to allow a non-citizen (their fiancée) to enter the country in order to get married to a US citizen inside the US.

Once issued, the K1 visa will allow the non-citizen to enter the United States legally, for 90 days in order for the marriage ceremony to take place. Once you marry, the non-citizen can remain in the US and may apply for permanent residence. While USCIS processes the application, the non-citizen can remain in the US legally

The US citizen income must meet the require minimum to fulfill the affidavit of support

THe US citizenn does not do biometrics
