Can someone truly be Christian if they don't fear hell?

If someone doesn't have a fear of hell, it sounds like they don't fear or understand God"s eternal wrath and punishment against sinners. Why or why shouldn't a Christian fear hell?

Christians are those individuals who have in faith accepted the free gift of salvation from Jesus Christ, their Lord and Savior. In His mercy, Jesus wipes away all of their sins (past, present, and future). Therefore, there is no sin for which they will be held accountable. Therefore, hell is not an option for them. Since they cannot go there, there is no reason to fear hell... .

I believe in God and I know 80% chance that I'll go to hell because of my inabilities. I will gladly go but I have no fear and I know God exists without being told by certain "rude" people who love to make others stop believing. No one should fear hell because that is like fearing what is in the shadows, you never know what might or might not be there or how far it goes 'til ya go. So to answer the original question, no one should fear hell because if you have used your life for enjoyment and helped others then it won't be an option for you. also no one knows if it is eternal punishment and believing a book that was made by a certain selfish king won't help. Just wait and see the truth.

Christianity is defined as following Christ. There are many sects of Christianity that do not even believe in hell. Others see hell as a place of purification. Painful, yes. To be feared, yes. Eternal? No.

As for myself as a deist, I agree with the concept of hell. I think it is simply a way of explaining spiritual suffering in a physical context. Hell can be eternal, as well. Hell is choosing hatred and resentment over love and forgiveness. You can see it all around us. People who choose hatred and resentment tend to be more bitter and miserable than POWs. It is worse than torture and we do it to ourselves with the choices we make. We also have the power to end it at any point that we choose. We have the power to condemn ourselves and we have the power to save ourselves by accepting love and forgiveness, which are the same teachings (love and forgiveness) found in nearly every religion.

If we truly have eternal souls, then how much worse is the hell of hatred and anger and how much better is the heaven of love and forgiveness without our mortal bodies to dull our spiritual senses?

Well if we who are truly in Christ and are living Christ as He has given us to live then if we "fear" Hell we would not be acting in the fullness of faith. yet there is only true fear that a Christian should have and that is the "Awesome fear" or "The Fear of the LORD" in knowing that He is Awesome and glorious and terrible to behold and that Fear keeps us loving God and knowing that He alone is Holy Holy Holy The LORD God Almighty.

A CHRISTIAN has no reason to PERSONALLY fear Hell, because they're not going there. They SHOULD, however, be aware of their relationship to Jesus and guard against apostasy... turning from Jesus. Also, there's no such thing as a Christian who doesn't believe Hell doesn't exist. If hell doesn't exist, WHY DID JESUS COME?!?!

They should be afraid of hell until they're confident of their relationship to God via Christ.

If you are a christian, you have to believe in hell, because christ said it is there..... And since hell is a bad place, again christ said so, you should fear it. So it is not that you cannot be a christian if you dont believe in hell, it is more than hell is included in the belief system of christianity.

A man's ethical behavior should be based effectually on sympathy, education, and social ties; no religious basis is necessary. Man would indeed be in a poor way if he had to be restrained by fear of punishment and hope of reward after death

Fearing Hell is not a requirement for Salvation. Knowing Jesus and belonging to him is. Aside from that non-negotiable fact, we are free to disagree over many doctrinal points.

Never mind hell, the idea of not being chosen to live in Paradise with Jesus is hell ! It is all our own choice. try to emulate Jesus when He was on earth. It is an impossible thing to do, but the important thing is, your "trying" ! Then your fears will be alleviated.
