What do you think of the leaked dossier by the Scottish finance secretary?

his forecast for a black hole in 2015 2016, his fears for welfare eg pensions and unemployment benefits can not be paid for,a black hole from £12 billion to£28 billion in2015 2016

Update:

Makes interesting reading ,but the above question was about what the finance secretary wrote regarding a Scottish future would face I would like to see a more up front version from the Scottish govt than rely on a newspaper article who is not always comparing like for like Other countries may have lots of different laws to live by It should be said J Swinney should be congratulated for opening up the debate so other opinions can be examined.

Sooner or later ordinary Scots will realise the financial mess Salmond has got them into with these 'political bribes' or freebies.

A country like Scotland just does not have the financial capability to rectify such losses and eventually will have to go 'cap in hand' to the gnomes of Zurich or put the taxes up to cover the loss.

No real difference from being in the UK then.

Also GERS figures released on the same day as the leaked report seem to disagree with it showing Scotland's deficit below the UK's and the IMF average. Clearly shoes Scotland would be in a better position to now to handle these things. The report itself dosen't really have any credibility as it is based on a UK deficit of over a 130 billion and not Scotland's which is 8 billion, also GERS showed Scotland is raising 800 more per head than the rest of the UK through taxation, a fact that seems to have been ignored. I think this leaked report has been in the possession of unionists for some time and to their credit they have bided there time for the right time to release it, but in the grand scheme of things doesn't really mean anything as the figures used are out dated. its the same as the GERS report, its just which one will make the most noise? Both are irrelevant but will get people talking one way or the other countering each argument with each report.

I notice you don't mention the positive news showing Scotland pays 9.9% of UK taxation but only spends 9.3%, why is that?

Edit: Jean i think you should have a read at this, an article in today's Scotsman, it agrees with about 50% of what i said but answers your question as a whole much better
