2004 impala transmission slipping during cold start?
Over the last week, each morning when I start the car and after shifting from park to drive, when I press on the gas pedal, the car won't move. It acts as if is stuck in neutral; the engine cranks but the car won't move. So I put it back into park and back into drive again and do it all over again. It usually takes about five times or so but it will eventually kick in. Afterwards, it does not give me any trouble to get work. Is there any fix for this without having to replace the transmission?

sounds like you're low on fluid. check it and if low refill and try it if o.k then repair the leak. if its full and you don't have to fill it then a internal problem. fluid and filter might help something might be starting to clog the filter and if that's the case then it definitely needs work.

It's not slipping, it's failing to engage. Most of the time it is caused by extremely low fluid level, dirty fluid, fluid that has lost it's physical properties due to overheating or a clogged filter. Check the transmission fluid level, if it's low, at the very least fill it up but you should change the fluid and filter.

After you check the fluid level - try something. After you start the car, put it in neutral and let it warm up for about 2 minutes.
Yes, in neutral just idle while you go through the seat belt, radio, defrost, etc routine. AFter only two minutes put it in gear and see how it behaves.
