Can I Transfer from Public Housing to Another State's Public Housing?

I'm in a Public Housing building in PA. I want to move to Florida to be with family, as my health is not good and I'd really like to spend my remaining time with family. I no longer have section 8 because in order to move into the Public Housing building, they had me drop the section 8. And now they are kind of holding that against me and saying I voluntarily gave it up and they won't give it back. I can't even reapply because the Sec 8 waiting list has been closed here for four years.

I want to transfer from this public housing building to one down in Florida. Even if I have to pay for the move. But I don't know if they allow such a transfer out of state. Has anyone ever done this type of transfer before?

Nope. There is no transferring at all.

You would have to move to FL and establish residency (live there 12 months) and then apply for housing. The wait will be about 6 years, longer if you are not a senior citizen.

You could only do that if you had a Section 8 voucher which can be taken out of state. You should have stayed on the Sec 8 waitlist a little longer. Even if you wanted it in your own county In PA you have to start all over again. Take a trip to Florida, get on their public housing waitlist, and you can continue to live where you are until you hear from them. You have to pay for your move anyway. Public housing is managed locally and other people are on a waitlist ahead of you who live in Florida. Rents in Florida are cheaper than Pa, so you could probably move anyway.

No, you cannot 'transfer'. You would need to join the wait list for such public housing in Florida, and you will need to live in Florida at least a year before you can apply for public housing there.

you are able to pass, yet your advantages won't save on with. they're provided by the jurisdiction the place you reside. the placement you're shifting to might very probable have an identical software which you may qualify for. yet you are able to no longer stay in State B mutually as receiving housing advice advantages from State A.

Separate systems. You have to start from scratch with paperwork & waiting lists.
