how to care for petunias?

as in how much water do they need and how often. Also, I live in Cyprus which means harsh spring and summer sun coming up., Can they handle that or should I try and put them in a shady place?

Petunias love full sun. They also appreciate a lot of water--but not soggy ground. Water them at least once a week, and pick off all the old faded blooms as soon as they die back. They ought to do just fine. If the petunias are the kind with long, drooping branches, you can even cut those back a little to encourage the flower to put out more branches, but don't cut off flowering ends until the flowers die. Petunias do not like shade. They will not flower as well or grow bushy enough to make a large mound.

That depends on what kind of petunias you have. The site has good information.
