Compound sentences have a coordinating conjunction connecting two independent sentences. They are - For, And, Nor, But, Or, Yet, So - they spell FANBOYS - which helps you remember. A semi-colon (;) can be used too.

    Simple - 1, 11

    Compound - 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9,10

    Simple Vs Compound Sentences

    Simple: 1, 3, and 11.

The rest are compound. In order for a sentence to be compound, it needs two independent clauses, and an independent clause has a subject and a verb. If a sentence has one subject and two verbs, it is still a simple sentence (number 3). And a simple sentence might have two subjects, as number 11 does.
