A good jumping in point?

I know I asked a similar question a few days ago but off of some help from some friends and some research/varied online shopping I might have a little more information then before I ended up asking the original question and I am taking the answers I got originally into consideration as well. I've known the names of some more prominent names for a while, and found trade paperbacks of Watchmen, V for Vendetta and The Dark Knight returns for about 35 total (sold as a set) or about 11 each. I also found out about another series I was considering that hasn't been reprinted ever and well sells for about 300 a book so that's a no go. Would these three be a good starting point or not? I know I said I'm not a huge super hero fan but from my understanding these are some good mature titles that have some levity to them.

Good point to start or not? Also what is about market price for those books new?

As far as price goes, those are all about right. I think Dark Knight Returns is an awesome choice and can be read without a lot of prior knowledge of Batman. Watchmen and V for Vendetta weren't as good for me, but a lot of people love them. I did like V for Vendetta more than Watchmen, but I'm just not a fan of Alan Moore, I think he's a bit over rated. Something to keep in mind is that all these stories you've mentioned were made a while ago, and for some they may not seem quite as good today. Still they're good stories and if you're looking to get into comics then they're as good a place as any.

I'd also suggest checking out Y: The Last Man, though it was a full series and substantially longer than any of the graphic novels you mentioned. Check out the first volume and I bet you'll be hooked. Also try All Star Superman, which is collected into a graphic novel format. I get the feeling that you're not big on superheroes but it's a great story.
