Why is Education in American especially but in certain Western areas become so political?
Basically this is in my opinion to prevent education reversing certain questionable things, make it political you can call it bias and therefore try silence or prevent it.
Education is the best cure for indoctrination.
I said this statement yesterday in Skype call and really I believe this is the biggest issue people have come to loath education and all it means. It's a well known fact Education cures the poverty cycle and yet politicians gut it without remorse and wonder what's going wrong? Education is not a left-wing or right-wing thing, hell the biggest mistake in US was when they began to make it political, when the very institution should teach facts and foster imagination, no agendas and especially not politics.
So why is this so hard to understand, why is their this hatred of education and people trying to claim it's propaganda. If you educate people they become the future and if they soon realize in power what's going on, they are more likely to question...
"Why are we doing this...?"
And no one will be able to answer.
Thus begins change.
No Elizabeth you are mistaking something here, education does not have to be done this way, thus it makes the point irrelevant. Since I refer to education as a whole not one type.

Certain political groups have recognized that a less educated populace is easier to control with media spin. Therefore, they politicize education and try to undermine its credibility in order to encourage people to be more susceptible to their propaganda. Playing fast and loose with the facts doesn't work when people recognize that you are playing fast and loose with the facts.

The government influences education in schools; they want to dumb down the populace for control reasons. In my old school, (since it was funded by the government, and everything funded by they government is under influence) the championed socialist/ communist idols such as FDR (whom many people don't know was actually socialist). You're right; everything nowadays is about politics.
The main thing schools teach you is that intelligence is the ability to memorize and repeat; don't be fooled.

EDIT: I understand what you're saying, sorry if I was a little vague.
Let me be a bit clearer on my stance:
"Education is the best cure for indoctrination."
In my opinion, true.
"I believe this is the biggest issue people have come to loath education and all it means."
So you're implying political bias in school studies is the reason people have come to loathe education? I disagree.
"Education is not a left-wing or right-wing thing, hell the biggest mistake in US was when they began to make it political, when the very institution should teach facts and foster imagination, no agendas and especially not politics."
Almost got it. It's only a mistake in the eyes of the citizens, not in the eyes of the government. It's done **purposefully** by the government, to inject their 'beliefs' (shall we call it? Or rather steps to gain control) into the populace.
"If you educate people they become the future and if they soon realize in power what's going on, they are more likely to question...
"Why are we doing this...?""
Of course, an educated populace would begin to question decisions of the government, but that's what the government **doesn't** want; they don't want to be questioned, they want the people to follow their every command like it's a game of Simon Says.
Hope I made it a bit clearer,
