Do I lose my Medicare coverage if I move to a different state?
I live in Michigan now. I am contemplating moving to Arizona. I am on permanently disabled and on Social Security. I also have Medicare as my insurance. My question: Will my Medicare be affected if I move states? I don't know if it matters what state I live in. I was told that Medicare is a state controlled program so I would lose it since I was awarded it in Michigan but will be moving to Arizona. Can anyone give me answers? Thanks

Same answer to your other question. If you have Medicare you get social security - not SSI. Medicare is federal - it is handled by the social security administration. You seem to be confusing it with Medicaid which is handled by the state.
Social Security benefits/Medicare/federal government/social security administration. People who have Medicare are either age 65+ or they've been receiving a social security disability benefit for 24 months.
Medicaid - state government handles Medicaid (state aid= Medicaid). People entitled to SSI (the federal welfare program) are automatically entitled to Medicaid.
I would suggest that you start paying attention to correspondence from social security and any other government agency. You should know what kind of benefit you receive.

MEDICAID is managed by each state, not MEDICARE. If you are on Medicaid yes you have to apply in Arizona. But with Medicare, you call and give a change of address and choose a new plan for the region you are moving to whether you have Original or Advantage.

Medicare is federal, Medicaid is state. However, if you are on Medicare and have a Medicare Advantage plan you'll need to change to a different plan once you get to AZ. If you move to the Phoenix or Tucson market you'll have a large number of plans from which to choose, if you move to another part of the state there are fewer choices.
If you are on straight Medicare with a Part D prescription drug plan you'll need to change that drug plan as well. You'll also have the option of joining a Medicare Advantage plan instead.

it truly is MEDICAID, not Medicare, and also you are able to be a resident contained in the state to get it. No, you won't be able to shop on with in Wis. in case you dont stay there. you are able to instruct your position of abode on the Medicaid place of work. You dont lie. you purchase your man or woman well being coverage.
