"We would rather that you" or "we would rather you"?

I'm stumped on how to word something... would it be "we would rather that you" or "we would rather you"? Which one is correct?

I believe that the usage should exclude "that" from your sentence,

    as it is superfluous.

" we would rather you..." is the correct use.

"we would rather you" is correct sentence. Its usage from Macmillian Dictionary is quoted as below

    would rather:

It is used for saying that you would prefer to do something or that you would prefer that something happened.

Example :I'd rather you didn't mention this matter to anyone else.
