Who is the best QB ever?

So recently I have seen a lot of debating weather it is Montana or Brady (even though in that discussion anyone in their right mind would pick Montana), but its very hard to say so easily that those two are the 'best" of all time. So to be more specific I would say who's the best common era QB (like post 50's). As well don't say anything stupid like "Brady coz he's da best" or something like that, and please say why. And just for the record I will go to my grave saying that Montana is the best of all time (for now no one knows what the future can bring)

Update:

@ The Amazing Spider Man (odd choice of a name but I can't judge): See I know someone would talk about how the stats are better for Brady, but you have to realize the game has definitely changed. Tom Brady has already attempted 567 more passed than Montana did in his whole career, with 3 less years of playing, as well for Montana you can disreguard two of those seasons becuase he was injured and in the other only played like 1 game. Also Joe Montana came onto a worse team than Brady did ( the year before he started the 49ers won 2 games, and the pats won 5), and had no help when he took his team to their 1st Superbowl win, where Brady had the "tuck rule" (which oddly seems to only be called against the raiders in important situations) and he should have never reached that Superbowl. Now you can pretend that "stats do matter' because yes Brady has better stats than Montana but think of these situations, and you will see that stats have almost no meaning

1st down

Update 2:

I apologize, I ran out of room to type what I was going to, but basically the QB makes 2 good plays and he ends up going 0-2 with 0 yards, and 1 INT. Those are real life situations as well and I hope they prove to you that stats don't matter to the extent that were using them (to judge who was better), and that next time you talk about this you'll realize that if your talking to someone who really knows football, they won't take those arguments seriously.

"Anyone in their right mind would pick Montana". Nah man. Someone who has never thrown for 4,000 YDs in a season and has passed for over 30 TDs just once cannot be better than Brady. If we're going to pick one QB over the other because of one ring, then do so. But if we're going to live in reality, then Brady easily gets the victory. More TDs, passing YDS, less INTs, better passer rating (top 3 of all time), 3 Super Bowls (which is honestly Joey's ONLY advantage), 50 TDs in a season (Joey could only hit 31 as a career high.......), 5,000 passing yards in a season (let's not even go there), ONLY unanimous MVP winner (one vote shy of doing it earlier in 07), 4 INTs in a season (come on), built the #1 offense to ever exist, has more playoff wins, more playoff TDs, close to getting the record for most playoff YDs, is 6 games shy of tying the NFL record Brees broke last season of consecutive games with a TD, and to top it all off, he is the record holder for records held.

Source(s): Now you can play your little Super Bowl card, and talk about Montana's passer rating in his 4 Super Bowls, and talk about how he was 4-0 while Brady was 3-2. That argument is not that valid. And I can go down deep into the books and find more reasons other than the ones I just listed as to why Brady is better than Montana. You couldn't do the same, because Joe Montana is clearly not better than Tom Brady.

In my opinion, Bart Starr is the best quarterback in the history of the NFL. Bart Starr led the Green Bay Packers to 5 NFL Championships, including the first two Super Bowl Championships (I and II). In addition, Starr has the best playoff winning percentage, and the best playoff passer rating of all time (at 104.8), of all quarterbacks with at least 10 playoff starts.

Brady might end up being better than Montana.

He's had a lot less to work with.

San Fran had great receivers and a running game.

If he wins another ring. He would get my vote.
