Sore throat and runny nose sounds like a cold. (So there is nothing the doctor can do anyway.) You can take cold meds, though they may cause a temporary drop in supply. (Try to avoid 'shotgun remedies' which claim to treat everything from a stuffy nose to trench foot. Buy something that treats the symptoms you have, and that are most annoying. [You may even want to just take your meds at bedtime, when the symptoms are most troubling.]

You can also drink tea with honey, eat chicken soup, use ordinary OTC throat lozenges, and so on.

Of course if you start running a fever or get really ill, try to get to the doctor. You may have more than a cold.

Depends on what kind of sick you mean. Tylenol and ibuprofen are fine, and many antibiotics are fine as well. Antihistamines are okay but they usually lower your milk supply.

Before we could really help, we'd need to know your symptoms.

edited for additional details: I personally would take ibuprofen for the throat, which may help ease congestion as well since a lot of congestion is the nasal passages being inflamed. Saline spray for the nose, and zinc lozenges or tablets. Rest, eat well, and hope you feel better soon!

You can safely take Tylenol and Motrin/Advil as directed on the package. Most antibiotics are safe, but are by prescription only and not effective against cold viruses. Decongestants and many antihistamines (which are for allergic reactions) can decrease your supply, so are not recommended while breastfeeding. The "old fashioned" cold remedies like juice and other fluids, rest, warm liquids (chicken soup, tea with honey and lemon) and steam are the most effective and safest.

depends on what's wrong with you exactly but - do not stop breastfeeding as the milk will give your baby the anti-bodies to fight the illness you have.

if you've got a cold/flu then normal medications such as ibuprofen and paracetamol are perfectly fine whilst breastfeeding as are a lot of antibiotics but if you're not going to the doctor you won't be taking them.

If you go to a pharmacy, and asks the pharmacists advice, they can help. Or if you have any regular medication at home, google it to find out. As others say, your baby is getting antibodies from you.

the good thing is when you breast feed your baby gets these antibody's that fight off your sickness

so your baby wont get your sickness

you have to use Natural remides meds will hurt the baby even small meds like tums
