Super pc geeks--SSD question-add ons?

I read the details on SSD hours to last and they are near 1,200,000 hours yet I read that other people say they only last 1 year or so. Which is it if you have experience with them. I've been using them for about 2 years but keep buying newer bigger ones before they wear out so I don't know myself.

Well it all depends on how you use the SSD, they are all actually designed to have more than the available memory that you see; This is because of the wear caused by writing to the sectors of the drive as any time you change just 1 bit on a sector the entire sector must be re-written (Obviously nearly every task on a computer requires a lot more than that)

But unless you are copying and pasting massive files (like HD Videos) repeatedly or re-installing your OS repeatedly you shouldn't see any risk in using the drive.

Just you know keep a nice backup and turn on features like TRIM etc.. to ensure the drive doesn't have needless writes to it and it should be golden for ages, probably as you said you will change the drive out before it shows any issues.

But yeah the drive will probably last just as long as a normal HDD under regular circumstances.

My experience with SSDs as with everything else in the world is that 'your mileage will vary'

Anything you buy can last longer then it was suppose to or die within a week or sometimes even come DOA, this also depends on what it's used for and how it's used
