What are your top 5 most memorable moments?

what are your top 5 favorite moments from your team?

Here's mine

1. 2006 Grand Final, West Coast defeating Sydney by 1 point after losing the year before by 5. This was the first time i got to watch my beloved Eagles take out the premiership as I had never even heard of AFL for the first 2. My Favorite moment was the Daniel chick smother and bump which allowed Adam Hunter to run into an open goal against the flow of play.

2. Round 10 2006- West Coast rallied from 54 points down midway through the 3rd quarter to defeat the Cats by 3 points

3. Round 24 2011 vs Adelaide, After being absent from the finals for 3 years it was like a big party at Subiaco. The game itself wasn't exactly close but the way the Eagles played and the Atmosphere at the stadium was something i had never witnessed before, The Mexican wave made it all that much better.

4. Round 6 2000 vs Fremantle- This is the only Western Derby Ive ever had the chance to go to and West Coast came out to smash our Cross town rivals by 117 points.

5. Ben Cousins comeback game round 16 2007 vs Sydney. for so long Ben Cousins was my idol, I was shattered to hear of his suspension for drug abuse. He returned in round 16 2007 to be best on field with 38 disposals in West Coasts 12 point win against our modern day rival

    1. Has to be the 2006 Grand Final against Sydney.

    2. Round 19, 2009. 13th placed West Coast traveled to Etihad Stadium to take on the 4th placed Western Bulldogs. The Eagles inter-state record during that time was Horrible, winning it's last inter-state match in 2007. Dean Cox and several others were missing from the West Coast side, but still managed to Pinch off a 5 point Victory over the 4th placed Dogs. Winning it's First Inter-state game since 2007. Believe it or not, that match was actually on my birthday as well, couldn't have asked for anything better.

    3. 2011 Semi-Final against Carlton. The last minutes of that game absolutely made my heart pound out of my chest!

    4. Round 16, 2011. Geelong had traveled to Perth after a 4 point loss against the Bombers. Everyone thought the Cats would come out firing after that upset, but boy, winning the 1st placed Cats was absolutely brilliant. Handing them a back-to-back loss.

    5. Round 16, 2010. Lecca's 12 Goal haul against the Bombers at Etihad Stadium. The record at Etihad still stands as LeCras kicking the most goals in a game at the venue.

    Collingwood Supporter here :-)

1 The grand final 2010 the draw

2 The grand final replay 2010

3 Chris Tarrant 2003 mark of the year

4 2008 Round 9 Collingwood vs Geelong collingwood just came out and decimated geelong for retribution for the 2007 prelim loss by only 5 points. Just the tackling intensity was the most ruthless i had ever seen.

5 Roar of the crowd at a Collingwood game the atmosphere is second to none.

    1) siren sounding in the 2006 grand final up by 1 point, after going hoarse screaming SIREN SIREN SIREN for the last five minutes (those 5 minute warnings were stressful things, they made the clock go up as opposed to down even on broadcasts)

    2) the sinking feeling when Leo barry took the mark in the forward 50 stomping out the last roll of the dice west coast had in the 2005 grand final (which was lost by 4 points)

    3) Round 21 2010, the realisation set in that we would definitely not lift ourselves off the bottom of the ladder and be guarenteed our first wooden spoon.

    4) Mark lecras' 12 goal haul against the bombers in 2010, the highlight of what was a highly disappointing season

    5) Beating the cats not once, but twice in 3 years in a grand final (a fact i'm sure Q remembers lol)

    1. 2010 GF Replay. i was there. amazing atmosphere. hope to do it again this year.

    2. collingwood vs Hawthorn prelim 2011. OMG BEST GAME EVER. 4 goals down in the last quarter micks final year as coach. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=57x829JPuhU the roar at 10:18 (clokes mark and goal to put us in front) was loud. But Ball's snap at 11:15 to put us in front was the loudest collective cheer. I dont know how we won it, but we did (only to lose the GF a week later). this is why i love being a collingwood supporter. the big time games with sell out crowds.

    3. ANZAC day 2013. Blairs toepoke goal reviewed. great match. the atmosphere at an ANZAC day match is just amazing. 90 000 people are silent for the last post.

    4. 2008 elim final vs adelaide. Jack anthony goals with seconds remaining.

    5. 2010 prelim vs geelong where we smashed em by 50 odd but we stopped at 3 qtr time to rest for the GF. we could have won by 100+. we killed them that game.

im hoping a 2013 collingwood premiership will be on that list by the end of the year.

Most memorable is not always my favourite:

    5) Like Whay suggested, turning up to the pub about 10 minutes late for the Eagles v Cats GF in ... I think ... 92 ... and realising it was all over. We didn't turn up to play and were pathetic, but nowhere near as pathetic as we were against Carlton in 95. It highlighted to me the dangers of having one mega-star up front and is the reason the departure of Junior Ablett never scared me as much as it did some.

    4) Standing in the Ponsford stand 15 years later at three quarter time leading by what, 70 odd points and I turned to the old duck who was standing behind us. We said at the same time - they couldn't beat us now could they? That's what being a lifetime Cats supporter meant at that time.

    3) Bursting into tears of joy when we kicked the first goal after 3/4 time in the 2007 Grand Final and singing ourselves hoarse for the next hour.

    2) Tommy Hawkins vs Hawthorn last year. Somehow we just KNEW he was going to kick that goal.

    1) Being in the MCG grandstand right in front of Jimmy Bartel's shot for goal against Hawthorn Round 17, 2009 with GFC Barracker from the USA. We'd all agreed that if Jimmy kicked the goal and the ball came towards us, it was getting packed in the bag to Kansas. He missed the goal, we missed out on the ball but it was the sweetest point I've ever seen

  • Port Adelaide

1.) 2004 Grand Final vs Brisbane: I was only 8 at the time of this, so I didn't really get to soak up all the Premiership Glory. If I was a bit older when we won it I would have been over the moon. Can't wait to celebrate our 2nd Premiership when the time comes eventually.

2.) Round 8, 2012 vs North Melbourne: Now here's a game I'll never forget. We were 32 points down in the last quarter, heading down a familiar path. But something sparked a magical comeback. 6 unanswered goals put us in front in the final minute of play. We were strong enough to hold on for an unforgettable victory, Hamish Hartlett had the ball in his hands when the siren went and his celebration was also unforgettable. I was in a pub watching the with fellow Port supporters and we were all jumping and screaming during that fightback. - Also, I found it extremely amusing that Michelangelo Rucci decided to NOT write an article the next day in the Adelaide Advertiser.

3.) 2007 Preliminary Final vs North Melbourne: Was at this game, and tearing the Roos apart by 87 points to get into the GF was so good to watch and the atmosphere was incredible. Shame about the disastrous week after, but we'll always have the PF that got us there to enjoy.

4.) Hamish Hartlett single handedly destroying Carlton, Round 10, 2012: One night we unexpectedly beat Carlton, not just beating them, thrashing them. It was made memorable due to Hamish Hartlett kicking 3 spectacular goals, taking some awesome one-handed marks. Imagine if Port could play like that every week...

5.) Round 21, 2007, Cassisi's match winner: We went down to Geelong to face the Cats at their fortress. It was a close game all day. We were in front in the last quarter, but Gary Ablett dodged about 3 players and kicked a goal to put the Cats in front. Skilled Stadium absolutely exploded. We seemed defeated but in the dying seconds, Cassis kicked a goal to put us in front. The siren went a few seconds after the centre bounce. Even though Geelong paid us back big time in the GF, I suppose we can always enjoy that win.

EDIT: Seeing as everyone else put in a negative memory, I'll add in one from me:

Round 5, 2011 vs Gold Coast. We lead by 40 points late in the third quarter, they kicked 2 goals in a minute, reducing the lead to 28 at the last change.

But they came back, I was sitting in the stands in panic. I remember Hamish Hartlett kicking a ball out on the full, Cameron Hitchcock missing a goal that could have won it for us and Jasper Pittards kick-in being smothered which granted the Suns the goal to put them in front. Even when we still led by a point, Port fans began leaving and I knew that we were going to lose. I regained faith when Westhoff took that mark and had faith that he would kick it. I thought he did but reality soon struck. I was filled with an unescapable burning rage! I was screaming "YOU'RE A DISGRACE PORT!!!!" Threw my scarf to the ground, threatning to throw it in the bin.

Leaving AAMI Stadium that day in pure disgust is something I won't forget. I can look back on it one day when I'm older and got things to smile about, and just laugh at my burning rage, anger and hatred that day.
