What would men like John Owen, D.L. Moody, and C.H. Spurgeon say?

They would pitch a fit! I personally have different beliefs than all those men, but they were a LOT nearer real Christianity than most protestants today.

The Baptists, Presbyterians, Methodists (and maybe others too, but those are the only ones I really know much about), used to all believe in - 1 Peter 1:16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

Now everybody wants a comfortable Christianity. "I'm okay, you're okay, mind your own business and I'll mind mine."

They've gone downhill in a big hurry.

Even the average Protestant from 150 years ago would barely recognize as Christian the typical church service or beliefs of most of today's Christians.

I think these men of faith would say that the church today is has less faith than the believers of the past.

They would want to know why American evangelicals have got nothing better to do than bang on about Evolution - or "the last times" if they want a day off from that.
