At the very least, I imagine he agrees with the official Doctrine of the Catholic Church on this.

The official teaching is that the Death Penalty is not in and of itself evil, but that in the modern day it is hardly ever necessary (since we can secure people who are dangerous), and that using the death penalty when it is not necessary shows a lack of respect for life and the possibility of personal change.

So, that means not saying it could never be right, but in practice strongly opposing it in nearly every country.

He may be against it, personally, but the death penalty is and always will be morally licit within Church teachings.

I don't know the pope but I am all for it. No one has the right to kill anyone. If anyone kills, they must be killed too.

I believe there isn't any reason why people should kill. If they kill, they don't deserve to stay alive anymore. We are suppose to be human, and not cold killers. Not even lions kill like that, they suffocate their victims first before eating them.
