Can I become a pastor with a minor in theology?
I am going to school to major in Computer Science but my minor is going to be theology. I was wondering if I would still be a legal Pastor if I got a minor in theology. Thank you

John, being a pastor in some denominations is based upon education and calling, more education. Others upon calling regardless of education. Now let me put my two cents in this mix---what ever calling God gives a Christian to do--that person should prepare themselves to the point they can handle it at the level expected by God--not by people. Everyone should be the best they are capable of being.
Now your studies will help to prepare you--but to be a pastor you should be called to be one. It take the tenderness of a shepherd as with sheep, the backbone of a wrestler and the love of a saint. Even called--you may never become a pastor---that is where man enters. Some churches will not use you for many reasons but few really know how to listen to the guidance of God. Some will take any thing(anybody) they can get. You need first to surrender to God's will--if it is pastoring, let him open the door.

In the denomination of church that I attend, many churches have 2 pastors. Senior and Associate. In probably about 99% of cases the Senior pastor always has a bachelor's in Theology and then usually a Master's degree plus. The Associate pastor on more than a few occasions has only a bachelor's degree if that. My uncle is an Associate pastor in California and he didn't have any formal theological training.
