Question about a burnt microwave?

Okay, so we bought a new microwave from the store and wemt on vacation. We left our elderly aunt to watch the dogs. When we came back the microwave was stained dark yellow and smelled like burnt plastic. We asked her how long she cooked her food (a pot pie) for, and she insists that is was only six minutes. So my question for the Yahoo Answers community is... how long do you think it would take to do this to a microwave? It is so burnt that the store wont even return it!

    ("Question about a burnt microwave?")

    ------------------------

2 or 2 and 1/2 minutes tops, depending on the size and type of pot pie. She probably didn't read the instructions on the carton for microwaving. And it could be that she thought the microwave power setting on the oven was lower than it actually was. I think, I would just forget it just to keep the peace ... if you get what I mean.

    Best regards

The time it took to do this is far in excess of 2 and a half minutes. Most of the moisture in the pot pie would have to be evaporated, and enough energy to char the pot pie. One certainly can't blame the manufacturer, unless the timer could be proven faulty.
