I think the English language is doing what it has done over many centuries and that is evolving. Eventually the language we use today will be incomprehensible to future speakers as Latin is to most people today.

Back in January of this year, a survey was conducted by some students at Oxford. They did conclusive tests on children aged between 11 and 15 years old, and found that 72% of them could not write a two page , handwritten letter, with proper words or letters, sentences, paragraphs, method or otherwise...

However..the tests showed that a new language now existed, and that the English language as we know it , runs alongside this new language rather than overtaking it and probably replacing it, and stating that the real English language is the foundation and basis for the new language's existence...

I don't know if it's damaging our English language, but texting has probably destroyed people's abilities to spell correctly! Everyone uses all these ridiculous 'lol's on everything now!

Yes because people are always shortening words and not using proper grammar and such, then they go to school and use those same shortened words on an exam.
