Maher's comment on taxes was ONLY ABOUT CALIFORNIA .Maher has never retracted anything about the horrid wealth/income imbalance and the need to have the rich pay more .

Taxes are only one way to correct this obscene imbalance and in fact it is not the best way to correct the wealth imbalance .Virtually all economists including two economic Nobel Laureates , sate that the financial and economic disaster of 2008 and the theft of trillions of dollars from the 99% to the ! % was due to the Republican repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act in 1999 .The repeal was a reward to the finance/banking industry's millions of dollars in campaign contributions over the years .

In fact ,Maher was referring to the WAY the wealth imbalance is corrected period .

I find it hysterical that a joke commenting about high tax rates because he lives in California (yet still lower than they were in the Reagan days) ends up with Conservatives buying in hook line and sinker and they start to quote him.

I wouldn't trust Maher on much. But good for him at least finally realizing taxes are ridiculous.
