I am a very skinny guy . Should I fatten myself a bit before working out/hitting the gym?

I suffered from anorexia around two years ago so now I have a stick-like figure - thin arms, flat chest, ribs are showing, and very flat stomach (in an odd-looking way) - and I am waaaay underweight. However, despite these, my legs are still in great shape.

I'm planning to get my old body back (and build muscles along the way) by hitting the gym, but should I fatten myself up before doing so?

    No, you will build muscle instead of fat. Be sure to eat healthy foods also'.

    Yes you should actually fatten yourself up. Muscle is easier built from fat you already have. If you put on fat then it will turn to muscle. If you workout while trying to put on fat you are at risk of actually losing more weight as you are burning calories and fat which there will be no fat to burn so you will not get any bigger. It is best that you do put on fat but try to make sure it's healthy fat such as from meats and natural food not junk food. Also it may be beneficial to try protein shakes if you really want to put on weight as this will help increase fat and also help put on weight. You must eat food along with protein shakes tho so you maintain a healthy diet and put on healthy fats. Sorry for the lengthy writing.
