Can I go to a community college then transfer to a university to study medicine?
My grades are at a 2.1 unweighted gpa and I'm trying to get them higher during my junior year i got a 3.5 3rd quarter and I assume I will get a 3.5 for the second semester as long as I keep my dedication. I was wondering if I can go to a community college then transfer to a university to study medicine if my GPA does not reach the minimum of a 3.0 GPA... I'm retaking some classes to get my gpa up as well. Is this a possibility to go to a community college then transfer when my grades improve, i know it might take longer this way but I'm willing to do anything to become a doctor.

This answer is a bit tricky, because yes, you can always go to a Community College, do well there and then transfer to a university to finish out a Bachelor's Degree. However, for those looking to go to Medical School, there choices will be limited due to the fact that many Medical Schools will not accept credits in Pre-med Courses that were completed at a Community College. I suppose you could go to Community College and just take courses in General Education like English Composition I, College Algebra, Fine Arts, Humanities, etc, but this too will put you behind. Youwill have many courses in Biology and Chemistry that need to be completed and cannot be done until you have finished General Biology I and II, along with General Chemistry I and II, which will take at least one full year to complete. If you wait until you transfer your Junior Year, you will spend at least one additional year in school trying to get your Medical School Prerequites Courses done. So, you really need to focus on getting your High School GPA up to at lest a 3.0 by the time you apply for colleges so that you can go straight to a university.

Yes, it is always possible to earn a higher GPA in community college and then transfer. But your Ochem and other upper level biology courses should be taken at a higher level institution.

make certain you flow to a 4yr college without delay. A community college is many times for faculty little ones who did no longer do too nicely in severe college, and that they desire the possibility to develop their grades to get right into a extra helpful college. A 4 year college looks so plenty extra helpful than a community college on your resume. flow to UF without delay!

You have to have a B.S. usually in biology or chemistry before applying to med school...if you don;t have a 4.0 you will be at a big disadvantage as most who apply will. Also the better/more prestigious college you get your B.S. at the better chance you have of being accepted to a med school.
