Is it normal for a male rat to sleep alot?

My rat seems to sleep almost all day. He doesn't play with anything. My other male rat is always on the go when I let him out. ( they came together ) I had him for almost 1 and a half years. ( I'm his 2nd owner so I don't really know how old he is. )

He doesn't act sick, his appetite is very healthy, eyes are bright. He seems happy when he's laying with me.

If I want him to get some exercise I usually walk around my room while he follows me but as soon as I sit down he jumps back in my lap and lays back down.

Is this normal? Is this the sign that he's getting old? Or is he just that attached to me

He seems like a typical lazy boy, My old rat Stuart was the same, he always preferred sleeping and lounging around than playing, he would have my whole bedroom to explore but he would always prefer to lay on me and snuggle haha, I miss him :( ... It sounds like its just his personality!
