I have a passion for horses and horse racing. I also love and own many different types of pets, they are my babies. My favorite pastimes are reading books, walking through the park, hiking, playing with animals. In the future I will learn to cliff dive. I also enjoy writing stories. My favorite racehorse is Barbaro with Smarty Jones close in second. Zenyatta closes out the top 3. (\__/) (+'.'+) ('')_('')

  • Bulb has leaves but no flower?

I planted some purple gladious flowers (sorry can't spell) just like the package said, about mid March. I have lots of leaves but no stem not even a little one. Is it going to bloom, or did I do something wrong? I bought them around Jan from Wal-Mart and stored them in a closet. I water it alittle every day when its very hot out.

    Thanks in advance

  • Will male rats fight if I have females in the same room?

I have 2 female rats and I wanted to adopt 2 adorable males, but I have no idea if they will fight each other when the females go into heat. I have no intention of them ever meetting. I've never had both sexes at the same time.

I planned on keeping them on oppstite sides of the room with cages way off the ground. And seperate play times. I just worry about if the boys will fight each other over the females. The males are about 4-5 months old and my females are 6 months (if that helps any)

  • How can I help my terrified rat?

I swear my female rat, Skye has a ratty form of PTSD. It started back in late Jan, when one of my mom's kittens jumped at their cage and knocked it against the desk, I didn't know they could jump that high yet or he wouldn't have been my room.

And now she is scared of every little noise, every little movement. I've given her time to get over it, but it seems to be just getting worse. Most days she won't leave her igloo house when I bring her sister out to play. When I can coax her out, she is very jumpy and when something spooks her, she throws herself at the desk where the cage is.

How can I help her, I hate seeing her so scared. I wonder if she has to see the vet.

  • Is there a trick to keeping rats on the floor?

I have 2 female baby ( 3 1/2 months ) rats that want to jump everywhere and not stay on the floor, where its safe. I give them safe places to climb but they just use that to jump on the bed and the plant stand. I have the bed blocked off because they used to scale the wall and the bed post to get on it. I forgot how energetic females can be, lol.

I'm just afraid they are going to break a leg falling off something, like one of my males did, though he was 2 years old at the time.

    Thanks for any advice

  • Is my plant getting enough light?

I have a moon valley plant and its little card stated it needed ' bright but in-direct lighting '. Well my only window in my room has the afternoon sun from about 2pm-4pm and I keep it in the sunny spot it makes on my bookshelf and on the window sill from the morning until 2pm. ( I can't keep it in any other room, my mom has cats )

It kinda has holes in the leaves and I was wondering is it getting enough light or too much. I water it 2 times a week.

Thanks in advance, this is my first house plant I'm trying and I hate to think I'm killing it.

  • What does it mean by " bright, but indirect sunlight"?

I bought a Moon Valley plant because it said it needed low light and I thought I could be the perfect starter plant for me. When I read up on it online it said it needed 'bright, but indirect sunlight'.

What does that mean? I'm trying to find the perfect spot in my room for it, so I put it in the sunny spot where the sun comes through my window since that's the brightest light my room sees. ( its the afternoon sun ) Is that too much light? It's about maybe 4 feet from the window. How would I know if its getting too much/not enough light?

  • How to get rid of fleas on rats?

My rats has fleas broght in by my mother's new kittens. How can I remove them? On one of my rats its kinda easy, he's white and I can see them, but my other is mostly black and I rarely see them and when I move through his hair he gets really angry at me. Should I bathe them?

My parents want to spray my room with some house spray they bought but I have no idea if my rats will be safe. Its made by Hartz and I don't care for that brand. Will that harm my rats? Even when its dry? They still chew the carpet sometimes.

    Thanks in advance

  • Is it normal for a male rat to sleep alot?

My rat seems to sleep almost all day. He doesn't play with anything. My other male rat is always on the go when I let him out. ( they came together ) I had him for almost 1 and a half years. ( I'm his 2nd owner so I don't really know how old he is. )

He doesn't act sick, his appetite is very healthy, eyes are bright. He seems happy when he's laying with me.

If I want him to get some exercise I usually walk around my room while he follows me but as soon as I sit down he jumps back in my lap and lays back down.

Is this normal? Is this the sign that he's getting old? Or is he just that attached to me

  • What is the difference between a Scot and a Pict?

I am reading a book about the history of the Highlands of Scotland and they kept stating things with Scots and Picts. I've always thought they were the same, but apparently they aren't. So what are the difference?

Hope I put this in the right section.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Stitching cross stitch ( 3/4 stitch )?

I am just starting cross stitch, I've only done a little kit with full x's so far and have been wanting to try a larger project. But it started mentioning 3/4 stitches and half stitches, I've been practicing the stitches. But how do I know which direction to make the stitches? ( that little stitch in the 3/4 stitch )

What I mean is, how would I know if the little part of the stitch goes bottom left, or right, or top left or right? Does it somehow have anything to do with the symbol? Hope I haven't confused anyone but I can't seem to word what I'm thinking.

    Thanks in advance

  • How to break these dog eating behavios?

My mum has a 4 year old dog that has to be hand fed ( he's quite scared of plates). The problem is that he will only eat if he thinks someone is going to take it from him. Either me, my father, or one of the cats has to be basically right near him just so he'll eat and pretend to take it. The same goes for the water bowl, my mum has to have her head near the bowl first. Oh and he'll only eat for her, if some one else has the food, he'll refuses altogether.

My mum wants to know what can she do so he'll eat when no ones around.

    Thank in advance

  • Stopping mice from biting?

I'm having troblem taming my 3 new mice. I've had them almost a month now and when I put my hand in the cage they nibble on me, to the point that I bleed. I've had 9 mice before these and I've never had a mouse bite me. I always wash my hands after eating anything or before working with them.

Should this stop once I totally tame them? ( it has never taken me this long before, lol )
