Will male rats fight if I have females in the same room?

I have 2 female rats and I wanted to adopt 2 adorable males, but I have no idea if they will fight each other when the females go into heat. I have no intention of them ever meetting. I've never had both sexes at the same time.

I planned on keeping them on oppstite sides of the room with cages way off the ground. And seperate play times. I just worry about if the boys will fight each other over the females. The males are about 4-5 months old and my females are 6 months (if that helps any)

they woont fight unless theyre in the same cage. i have my males and female right next to each other all the time and they have never fought over her. i take them out to play alot and the males dont do really do anything but avoid her. if they start to fight just separate for a bit.

If all four rats are in the sane cage or if the two makes are in the same cage they WILL fight. Would you be keeping the females together in one cage and males in the other? If they never meet it should be alright. But if the males even smell the females, they will fight. I suggest only buying one male, neutering it, and keeping it with the females. Or getting two more females.

Not all the time. Yes the males are territorial around females but usually if they are all in the same cage (male and female) the males may fight.

You are not adopting. If you were adopting, they would be neutered.

Keep them away from the females, they might.
