Haven't been to a doctor in over 10 years. What to get checked out?

I'm 23 y/o and I never had health insurance and I hardly get sick and if I did it would just be a simple flu. Now I'm finally getting insured by my job (Kaiser) and I just want to know what kind of check ups should I ask for? What covers? I also never ever been to a dentist. And finally got dental insurance as well Any advice?

Going to the dentist is very important at any age. Going to the doctor may be a good idea if you haven't been in a long time, but it's likely you wont need it. The dentist does more than just make your smile look better, it also can affect your health. Dirty teeth or cavities left alone for years can cause stomach infections or other bacterial infections.

Since you have insurance now, I would just go to both and get things taken care of.

You're on the preventive side of medicine. Family history is the key for you, cancer, blood pressure, cholesterol and such. These things should all be checked and then follow your doctors recommendations. It's always good to meet your doc when you're feeling well and develop some rapport before you become ill. Good luck to you.

It is important to see a doctor, if only to introduce yourself and to get checked out. This is helpful so that when you DO get sick, you have someone to see. Trying to find a doctor to treat you when you are sick is not fun, as you won't be an established patient and may find it more difficult to get an appointment when you actually need one.

you really have to go to the dentist for a checkup and cleanup. As to the doctor, at your age, if everything work fine, you don't have to go.
