Im a 14 y/o girl thats a beginner at skating. details below?

ok so i love skating but i'm just a beginner so i dont have any friends that skate. i went to the park alone today and there where a bunch of guy skaters. so i just got over it and started skating because im still getting the hang of it. one of the guys yelled " you're getting the hang of it!" and they looked 17 maybe. i just smiled shyly.

i got really embarressed cus i didnt think people where paying attention to me so after a while i just went home. ok so i need advice on how to get over being shy about skating around people because i'm just a beginner so i suck lol. and how do i not get discouraged cus im still getting comfortable with just cruising around and stuff. haha thanks in advance

It can be really intimidating to skate, as a noob, in public, but in the long run if you can power through it, it will help. Otherwise, just practise riding and pushing on the sidewalk, driveway, minor roads, just anything really. For example, I started off riding around in the garage of my apartment complex.

If you don't want to get discouraged, just ignore everything else, and focus on what you are doing. For example, just ride around, and figure out where you can put your feet to make your balance better. Realize that slightly bending your knees increases your stability. Once you get the hang of that, loosen up your trucks, and learn to lean, so you can turn. Figure out what works best for you. Always keep aware of your balance, and if you lose balance, figure out what happened, and fix it. Then once you get confident, start riding around with 1 foot on the board, as if you were pushing. Then progress to actually pushing.

Basically just take baby steps and focus on correcting your errors, while ignoring everything else, and you will get better.
