Question for all those who trap coyotes?

I am knida new but not so new at trapping. I have trapped everything but a bobcat. I am eagerly awaiting that day. Anyway, I trap some yotes here in southern WV. I trap because of they are devastating on turkey and deer here . I have noticed that sometimes the yote will pull through the jaws of the trap. This leaves some hair between the jaws. What causes this to happen. My traps are a couple years old and I wax and dye them every season. Any suggestions?

Update:

Possibility Mr. 357. I use a number 3 sleepy creek. I have heard of Duke traps giving way some. It should be big enough to hold the entire foot. But I may go to a larger one and try that.

Update 2:

The size of the trap is a #3 sleepy creek.

My guess is that the foot is not fully engaged in the trap when it it tripped. What size traps are you using? You might need a bigger trap.
