WPG lost so Washington is 2 points out of the division lead.
This is a completely upside down year...NYR and PHL are on the outs, NYI is in, and all 3 Canadian teams in the eastern time zone are in (because we all had MTL, TOR, and OTT (after losing Karlson to injury) making the playoffs). We're through the looking glass here, people.
HQ: They can definitely win a round in the playoffs...after that it's a complete lottery.

No, the beginning of the season was U-G-L-Y for them. They have clawed their way back in on the back of their Russian captain and his Swedish centerman. Holtby's been fine, Green has been solid, Laich has been helpful, Ribeiro has been good, but those two are the number one reason the Caps are in the playoff race.
I don't think they'll be surprising anyone. Mostly because they've been around, I think teams would be more surprised by the Jets. Tampa and Washington...... they're still the same teams that have been fighting in playoffs in past years.

I think they'll make the playoffs and then maybe surprise someone. Poor Ovechkin, for him anything less than walking on water or raising the dead is a disappointment.
