Brushing off threats from N. Korea?
Why does the U.S. keep, well, what seems like it to me, brushing off threats from N. Korea? Shouldn't they be taking it more seriously since there are so many? I suppose there's things going on behind closed doors that we don't know about, so are they just trying not to scare the public or something? Honestly, I'm confused about the attitude of not just the U.S. but the whole world towards these threats.
Thanks for all these answers! What's a false flag? Pardon my ignorance - there is so much of it! :)
By the way, I'm not panicking or anything - I'm not the type to run around screaming and gathering supplies for a bomb shelter. I'm just wondering. The ignorance thing again...

The North Koreans are definitely dangerous, but they can't reach the US.
They can definitely cause havoc on the Korean peninsula and perhaps the Japanese islands, and the response to them would be swift but they are going against basically the US and the South Koreans.
While the North has been isolated for the last 60 years, the South has been prosperous. They've been backed by the US and their military equipment is mostly US gear. We have the US Army and the US Air Force permanently stationed there.
Their threats are because they want stuff that they can't have because of their weapons program. They are poor but they use most of their gross national product feeding the military and funding weapons programs. A large percentage of their population is starving.
They want to do something that will allow them get what they want without giving up anything. Threats have worked in the past. Only time will tell if this latest saber-rattling will get them anything.

North Korea has particularly some communicate, and that's approximately it. Their coaching structures are undesirable at superb. in the event that they purpose one in the direction of Hawaii, they'll in all probability hit Tahiti. they don't have the working technologies to mount an invaluable nuke atop a missile. they could particularly get one to bypass off in a cave. With all that suggested, they have become a real soreness interior the posterior. Obama isn't waiting to commit any supplies, and, he shouldn't. we've greater advantageous than adequate technologies in South Korea to counter any action wanting a finished scale land invasion. you ought to remember that the rhetoric comes from a puny little despot and not the human beings as an entire. specific, they have been brainwashed, yet it truly is not any reason to obliterate them.

Personally I don't think we take it so seriously because we think it won't go anywhere. NK(North Korea) has taught all their people to hate America. I think they send these threats to rally their people. Show their people that their leader is strong. 1 mile on either side of the DMZ is a hell hole. If anything was to go down, an invasion on NK would be difficult. Also China is allied with NK. If we were to make war with NK we want to be sure that China wont go after us as well. So my personal 2 cents is we haven't done anything because there are way to many variable that go into it.

North Korea has been making threats like this since 1953. Kim Jong Un simply wants to appear powerful and militaristic to his subordinates, and to try to intimidate the West. All that they want is attention. What do think we should do, live in a constant state of panic? Because that is exactly what Kim Jong Un wants.

because n korea isnt nuclear capable and it could not invade s korea without being annilated beforehand.
the issue is china helping them. vietnam is on our side, so good luck taking all of aisa.
believe it or not, making nukelear missiles is harder than duct taping a missile to a nuke and lighting a fuse.

what you have is a China backing them up, bristling with nukes and daring anyone to do anything .. China wont let them go too far is my opinion because they would look bad and could say nothing about a response ... of course i could be wrong to lol ..
