transmission problems?
Ok I just put a new rebuilt transmission in my mother inlaws van, the problem is
when the wheels are off the ground it will shift into second and then delay shift into 3rd and slowly into 4th, but after one time it'll go into limp mode and not shift past second.
now when the van is on the ground moving it goes to shift into second and act as if it shifts into neutral and completely stop moving forward, even after a complete stop it still don't move forward intill after it is cut off and restarted then it shifts starts moving forward again, but soon as it goes to shift into second it jumps out of gear and ALL fore ward gears are gone again.
What could the problem be.
sad thing is its on a 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan, as for the linkages there really isn't any. I put the tranny in myself and the guy we bought it off of wants the engine codes before he will do anything, problem with that is the closest auto parts store is 25miles. my brother is bringing his code reader this weekend. I'm just curious what the problem might be before I start looking at the codes.

It could be the torque converter is not seated all of the way or the pump is bad.

First check the linkage to the transmission. Did you tighten everything up to spec? Double check to see how everything is by the torque converter. If everything checks out on your end take it in if it has a warranty and have them give you a new one.

I would see if i could get the guy that rebuild the trans to come over and look at it and see what he thinks about it .You might need to take it back out ,And re do it .

problem is that you need to take it back and get it redone. because they didn't do a good job at it.
