i have never seen puppies and dismembered heads on the same website before. and why is half of Reddit's population atheist. Reddit gives you a feel that when you get on it it feels like home away from home

As far as I can tell, Reddit is dominated by young and therefore eccentric and mostly politically liberal people. This explains why Reddit users might tend to be atheists and are willing to appeal to a variety of tastes, both "good" (puppies) and "bad" (the gory images that you mentioned).

It a great place for people to share and communicate media and opinions. You just have to find the subreddits that interest you to in order to get the most out of it.
