Coronation Street: Why did Fizz go to jail?

I just discovered Coronation Street and I really like it. I'm trying to get an understanding of the characters and story lines. The characters have mentioned a few times that Fizz was in jail and talking about some guy that she was with that was a criminal. Also can anyone bring me up to speed about the story line involving a train crash.

Peter Barlow was enjoying his stag do in the Joinery, Leanne Barlow was at her hen do in the Rovers, Molly Dobbs was preparing to leave husband Tyrone and John Stape was arguing with Charlotte Hoyle, when disaster struck the Street.

An explosion ripped through the Joinery causing a tram to career off the viaduct and crash first into the corner Shop and then the Kabin. As parts of Coronation Street collapsed, lives were lost and people were seriously injured.

Fiz went to jail because of John Stape - She never knew what he'd done till it was too late.

Sorry can't get the whole story in this box.

The Police arrive at Fiz's house to notify herself and Chesney that John had been caught on CCTV boarding a ferry at Holyhead. Eventually, Fiz confesses her part to the crime and so the Police arrest Fiz for the Murder of Colin Fishwick. At the Police station Fiz is interviewed for the Murder of Colin Fishwick. Fiz is taken into custody but is released and then attends Magistrates' Court. The incident was deemed too serious so was sent to Crown Court. Fiz is charged with 3 murders after her husband John fled the country to Ireland. Fiz has been remanded in custody and faces trial at Crown court. Fiz is denied bail and is sent straight to Prison to await trial.

I prefer she grew to become into. i actually hate the entire Fizz, John storyline, its so unbelievably a techniques fetched and drawn out. while will the scriptwriters learn, stop giving us the stupid sensational storylines with undesirable actors and come again to how Coronation St was once, otherwise human beings will in simple terms stop observing!
