I have a question about floor cleaning involving cat litter?
I have a white residue on my wood floor from cat litter.I have tried mopping but it disappears when wet then comes back when dry. I use baking soda on the cat litter, I don't know exactly whats causing it but it keeps coming back.any help would be appreciated.Thank You.

Sounds like the baking soda has gotten into the timber and is leaviing tat white residue. You can carefully try to scrub the area with a soft bristled brush, wiping it over frequently with a clean damp cloth. If this doesn't work, then I suggest you just spray some furniture polish over the area and buff it. The oils/waxes in the furniture polish will leaave the film of bicarb 'moist' so it will not be obvious.
May be worth getting an old piece of carpet etc. to put under the cat litter tray so the problem is not ongoing.

That residue may still just be dust, baking soda dust, or dust from the litter. I use a wheat-based cat litter, and my wood floor around the box always has that white residue. Give it a really really good vacuum when dry, just to check, because your trying to mop it up may just actually be spreading it around (so when everything dries, the residue reappears).
If you are sure it is not dust, then it may be that the litter and/or the baking soda is actually dulling your floor. Look into the proper care for your particular floor. If it is laminate or a wood floor with a heavy varnish over it, you can give it a clean with a sudsy solution made up of a few drops of hand-dish-washing liquid (like Sunlight) in a bucket of warm water. Us a super-absorbent cloth, immersing it in water, wring it out well, and then scrubbing the area. Other types of wood floors may require something like Muphy's Oil Soap. My particular floor is basically untreated, so, at some point, I shall give it an almost-dry moist wipe-down using an Oil Soap solution, buff it dry, leave it to really dry, then give it a rub with olive oil, then a buff to pick up the excess oil. But, as I noted before, check on the right care for your floor.

I googled this question because I had the same problem. My bathroom floor was covered in this. I ended up spraying the area liberally with white vinegar and then sprinkling baking soda over that. Let it sit 2-3 minutes and wipe up. I then followed with a dry rag. It's totally gone.

I had the same problem with my painted concrete floor. After weeping/vacuuming the cat litter, I mopped my floors and it looked clean, but a white film remains. I just recently repainted the floor and it looked beautiful, until I put the cat litter back and the same thing happened. Very frustrating. I will try vinegar and see if that works. If not, I will try the oil soap.

It's the baking soda that's causing the residue. Try Murphy's Oil Soap & clean it by hand, not with a mop. Rinse several times with a clean rag & clear water.

Try to spray white vinegar direct to the floor or wood,. It may help! I had this problem few months ago with my cat kept spraying every corner in my house i got so frustrated on how to get rid of this terrible terrible smell, it stinks all the time even how hard cleaning it up it brings back again and again. So i decided to take my cat to vet for his castration and no more spraying afterwards^^
all you have to do is wipe it up using dish detergent wait until it dry and spray with white vinegar. Good luck to you^^
