I did that, but not on purpose.. There was a new burger joint a couple streets away and me and a friend really wanted to try it out.. I don't remember why we went so late, but we were really hungry and walked down there and just opened the door and ordered - luckily the owner was nice and he took it and let us eat in there.. Once we left and saw the time on the door we were shocked, because when we got there it was 5 minutes till, and he still let us eat there.. Of course now I am a regular customer..
But would I ever do it on purpose.. If it was fast food then yes, if a actual restaurant then no

If it was just fast food, then yes, but I would definitely order to go! As for a sit down restaurant, absolutely not. I really can't think of anything more inconsiderate than keeping a poor server there just to wait on you, and the cook just to make food for you. People who do this can potentially cause the staff to have to stay an hour or more later than normal. That is just plain rude and shows that you just have a total disregard for anyone but yourself!

Maybe a fast food place but id feel like I was being really awkward if I went into a proper waiter restaurant

If it was 5 minutes, I might go in to a fastfood restaurant if I was really hungry. Just get the food and leave

No, I would go to another restaurant unless I am a regular customer at the restaurant I would probably still go in.

If it's fast food, and they can serve you in less than 5 minutes to go, then yes. A sit in, absolutely not. I find it funny that many places that stay open later for drive-through will not serve you if you're on foot or on a bike.

It sorta depends....
If its fast food, definitely...unless they've already started closing up.
If its a sit-down restaurant, no I'd just find another cause I don't want to be rude.

Yes, I have done it in a Pizza Restaurant before, they were fine with it. I guess it's more money for them the the end of the day.

No, going in to an establishment as it's about to close really irritates the staff, do you really want to p/off the people that are preparing your food? The possibilities are endless as far as what they can do, I would rather stay on their good side.
