Anybody think that the Patriots are screwed without Wes Welker?

I mean, the guy was getting over 100 receptions per season. He was the main target for Brady. I mean, what do the Pats actually have for WR's. They have Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola, and then a bunch of no names. I know they like to run those two-tight-end sets with that offense, but let's face facts. Edelman has proven to be a decent replacement for Welker when Welker was injured, but can he go the full distance and be consistent? I don't know. Danny Amendola missed 20 games in three seasons. He did put up impressive numbers last season considering that he only played 11 games, but I have my doubts about him staying healthy. That Defense has needed some serious help for years and they have made some decent acquisitions this offseason. But, it never seems to be enough. I am rambling though. What do you think?

No I don't. I really believe it was the system in NE that made Welker. He will not be the same kind of player in Denver. Amendola has been injured often, but on the field Brady and Belicheck will only elevate his game. New England's biggest problem is they have a lack of individually talented players. Brady will win them some games, but the defense is the issue.

probable. They nonetheless have Tom Brady in the back of middle. Wes Welker's large and all, even with the indisputable fact that the Patriots made their dynasty in the previous both him and Randy Moss got here on the scene. even with the indisputable fact that, it will be a huge issue interior the way the Patriots play; they're going to ought to regulate without him. Will or not that's extra of a project?-definite. Can the Pats nonetheless dominate?-definite.

Here's the thing, what makes Tom Brady so great is he can make any guy look good. Your talking about a guy who won 3 rings with Troy Brown, David Givens, and David Patten as his three main targets with J.R Redmond in the backfield. Brady can play with nobody's and still win games he's the only QB who has been able to do that.

The Pats have a better 3rd string tight end then most teams starting tight end. (Jake Ballard) We are a TE offense so we should be good. Gronk, Hernandez, Ballard, Fells, and Hooomanwii. I call them the Ferocious five. They could all be starters or were starters somewhere else but they stay with the Pats for the championship. Our receivers I think where all set with we don't need anymore. I'm not for picking up sanders for a 3rd round pick or a guy in the draft we need to be drafting a cornerback and a Defensive Tackle. This is how I see our receiving depth chart shaking out.

    1. Danny Amendola

    2. Donald Jones

    3. Michael Jenkins

    4. Julian Edelman

    5. Matthew Slater

    6. Andre Holmes

    (7) practice squad: Jeremy Ebert- another receiver similar to Edelman and Amendola

I think where all good for a championship run. If Gronk is healthy from day one I don't think there's one team that can stop us.

No, Brady still has plenty of good targets to throw to and they actually have a solid running game now so it's not such a sure bet that they will pass 80% of the time now.

@Par 4- LOL, Brady hasn't won a Super Bowl WITH elite WR's, if anything this is getting "back to his roots" without an obvious #1 WR.

Troy Brown, David Patten, Deion Branch and David Givens were pretty far from elite WR's.

To sum up what I have seen: Danny Amendola is a younger Wes Welker who is a little more prone to injuries. I think Amendola is a fine replacement as long as he stays healthy.

Yes he was productive, and the Brady-Welker connection has been cut off. But they still do have Tom Brady, one of the greats. Plus they have a great coach in Belichick, they'll most likely be fine

They might also have Sanders too. But no. Welker didn't make Brady. Brady makes his WR's.

They'll be better this season. They are about to add Emmanuel Sanders to the mix. Plus they improved the defense tremendously.

As long as Patriots have Billichic and Brady, they will make the playoffs

One of the things that always made Brady an elite QB was he always had an elite receiver to throw to. Maybe well see what Brady really is made out of, although any faults will probably be blamed on his age.
