I really want to change my name?

I'm 17 years old and I've recently been thinking about changing my first name and/or middle name.

I am English and my first and middle name is Louise Jayne. I've never liked my first name as I've been teased a lot for it's rhyming in the past and I feel it is a very random choice considering it's very uncommon as a first name in the UK. It's extreemely popular as a middle name though which tends to irritate me as when I meet new people they always say how them or someone they know has Louise as their middle name. It just makes me feel a little dehumanised towards everyone. I also really dislike the dialect and sound of it.

I quite like my middle name so I'll probably keep it but possibly change the spelling so the "y" is omitted. My mum's middle name is Jane so she decided to give me the same name but change it a little. I'm not too fond of this spelling

I know you can change your name if you're over 16 and have your parents permission, but I haven't mentioned it to my parents yet.

In England, we tend to stick to traditional names like James, Emma, Charlotte, Thomas etc but I really want to have a different name, not a silly one, just something nice but unique and uncommon.

I have always admired the names they adopt in the United States, as they use names originated in countries all around the world, so it's a complete mix. I also really love unisex names as they are more dimentional.

Could you give me your advice and some suggestions for names. My surname is Hudson so anything that will go before "Jane Hudson" I will consider.

The names I'm thinking of at the moment include:

Marissa

Larissa

Austin

Sierra

Scarlett

Eva/Evelyn

Summer

Jessica

Alyssa

Amanda

Daniella/Dani

Avia

Emanuelle/Emmy

Emilia

Tessa/Tess

Lea

Clarissa

Which of these names best flow with my middle and last name?

Marissa is a nice name but I prefer some others, however it is good because it is original and flows nicely with your name.

Larissa isn't as pretty as Marissa in my opinion and Marissa goes better with your other names.

Austin sounds quite boyish and relaxed to me. There is nothing wrong with that at all! You said you liked boy names so this one would be good and it goes with your name. Sierra is nice but doesn't go as well with your name.

Scarlett is amazing! I really like this and especially with Jane after it like Scarlet Jane. But with this one I think the Jane should be spelt Jayne to make it more unique.

Eva/Evelyn sound kind if of magical, like the word elf. I think Eva goes better with your current name. Eva Jane sounds awesome!

Summer is nice but doesn't go as well with your surname. Not saying it doesn't go of course.

Jessica is more of a common name in the Uk I know several people called Jessica so if you want more of a unique name I wouldn't go for that.

Alyssa- I can't pronounce that so I don't know, sorry.

Amanda is quite common so not as unique however it goes really well with Jane. Daniella/Dani is similar to the boys name Danny or Daniel so as you like that idea it is good.

Avia doesn't go as well with the surname. Emanuelle/Emmy- not too keen, sorry. But remember this is only my opinion.

Emilia is beautiful especially with Jane

Tessa/Tess sounds like a name for an easy going person but Tess doesn't go as well with Jane.

    Lea has an awesome spelling!

Clarissa sounds slightly old fashioned but that's nothing bad.

My favourite names were Scarlett and Eva. Hope this helped! Xx :)

When I was 5, my step-dad decided to change my name. It's not legally changed but he made everyone start calling me Danielle. My legal name is Isha though. I'll just let you know that its gonna be really really hard getting everyone who already knows you to start calling you by your new name. For me, I like Isha better and I'd rather go by that. Now that I'm an adult, I've started introducing myself as Isha, like to the people at work, and new people I meet. But those who have known me for a long time still call me Danielle. I would say. you should go by the name that you feel is more 'you'. If you like the sound of a name and you think it fits who you are better than the name you were given, then change it. I dont know you, or what type of person you are so I cant say which name fits you best. But as for flow of the words in a name, I'd say that I like Summer Jane Hudson. It sounds cute. But If you want something more elegant or professional, I'd go with Scarlett or Marissa. Good luck. I hope you find a name you're happy with. :)

Scarlett is gorgeous, maybe spell it like Scarlette? Emmy is cute, try unique spelling like Emmee, Emmie.

Evelyn is so beautiful, and dignified, as is Avia.

Stop posting the same question. Louise is SO much better than all the names on your list anyway. Goodness sake!
