How to get smoke smell out of clothes (my parents smoke)?

My parents smoke, so I go to school smelling like smoke every day. Recently, rumors have started to spread that I smoke, which is completely untrue and ridiculous. Despite, I am acquainted every day with the words "Someone stinks in here" and all eyes falling upon me. I live in a 2 bedroom house with all of my sisters, so my only option is to keep my clothes in my parents' room b/c I really don't have a closet to put them in. I can't wash them; we don't have a dryer and rely solely upon laundry mats, which we only visit about once every two months. I don't really have any perfume, but I might be able to scrounge some. I'm between a rock and a hard place. Any advice?

I feel for you. Have you told your parents about the hurtful comments you have to endure at school because of them and how it is affecting you. Why can't they go outside and smoke, many people do this in the UK, it also helps you and your sisters avoid breathing in second hand smoke which is still very dangerous.

If they want to risk killing themselves smoking then that's their decision but they have no right to put your life at risk whilst you are too young to be in a position to change your situation .

If your parents are not selfish people (which they sound as if they might be) they should do this for you and your sisters. If not, could you cover your clothes up when on a hanger with plastic bags, maybe there's something like this very cheap on the internet. Could you ask for some at a dry cleaners in your town.

To begin with you might be being harmed by means of your father and mother smoking around you. Although you're in an additional room. You are essentailly smoking and not using a filter and they're utilizing the filter so that is why it is worse for you than them. You say they wont smoke external? Good that seems slightly selfish to me but maybe you need to sit down them down and explain how detrimental it's to you and the way your garments and your hair smell all the time. You are not asking them to stop smoking, but simply to move external or even in a garage you probably have one. Unfotunately febreeze sure will masks the odor but it is continuously there wether which you could scent it or no longer. Different individuals will consistently smell it round you.

My daughter had the same problem as you, as I'm a chain smoker.

Last month I switched to electronic cigarette and I'm SO happy about it! My house doesn't stink anymore, my daughter's clothes and hair smell wonderful, my breathing has improved vastly AND it's a lot cheaper than regular cigarettes. I'll be saving 250 euros a month! I'll never go back to regular cigarettes again (I tried twice and I couldn't bear how they stunk).

Persuade your parents to get electronic cigarettes and you'll all be healthier, happier, and richer.

In the meantime maybe you can store your clothes in a box in your own room?
